A man living in Lansing, Michigan received a call from a microchip company letting him know his precious dog was found in Toledo which is about 100 miles away.
At first, he considered this to be a prank call but realized this was a real call after he asked a few questions. His dog went missing about four years ago after she ran away.
Bradley Wieferich, who is the owner, was in shock that they found his dog after all this time.
Earlier this month the Toledo police found the dog Bambi who is 12 years-old wandering the city streets. The officers were able to retrieve Bambi in the cruiser and took her to Lucas County Canine Care & Control.
The employee named Laura Simmons-Wark at the care center scanned her microchip and realized she has a family. She was so happy to hear this dog has a home.
Laura is a community outreach coordinator for the center. She said, “The dog is quite thin but very sweet.” They know where this pooch has been roaming around and how she made it in this area.
Once the care center connected with the Wieferich family about a week ago, they brought Bradley in to identify his dog.
