If you want the public to go against you, the easiest way would be to be cruel to animals. We take these pets into our homes as members of our family so we can love and care for them.
Some pet owners seem to take the matter into their own hands by being a victim to bully and abuse. Many rescue shelters save these pets from awful conditions.
In 2015, they have been 81,146 complaints of cruelty to animals which involve 33,884 cases involving cats, 15,965 related to horses and ponies. These statistics were released by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Dogs are the most abused species in the Western World.
Social media is a great tool to help rescue abused animals from further harm. Images and videos can be quickly shared so the perpetrators can be reported to authorities.
The most recent example shared on social media where a dog owner was spotted by a witness lifting their dog by its neck.
The man is from the city of Mount Holly, North Carolina. The woman who witnessed this confronted the man (identity not revealed) but he told the woman to mind her own business.
The good Samaritan woman quickly took some pictures from her smartphone and contacted the Mount Holly police department. The man was detained and charged with animal cruelty.
She also contacted NC Dog Rescue who posted images on Facebook in order to raise awareness about animal cruelty.
Many people expressed anger and disgust with this man’s treatment of animals. We are grateful this woman took pictures and took action. It’s time we make a difference in regards to animal cruelty.
An abused dog can make a full recovery once they are given some loving attention by caring owners.
