Most families bring their pets with them when they move out, and anything they cannot bring is either sold or thrown in the trash. Instead of bringing the dog, one family left their pet along with their garbage.
Detroit Animal Welfare Group (DAWG) received a call from a stranger about a dog wandering alone in the freezing Michigan winter. When Terri Looby, a shelter volunteer, heard this, he did not think twice and rescued the puppy from the sub-zero temperatures.
As soon as Terri laid her eyes on the dog—later named as Ollie—she felt a pang in her heart. She found Ollie sitting on an old chair, starving and shivering from cold with no food or water.
There was also another dog staying outside with Ollie at that time. The neighbors thought that the dogs’ owners went back to pick them up. Sadly, they only took that other dog and left poor Ollie for the second time.
Seeing how malnourished Ollie was, the rescuers fed him on route to the veterinary. As soon as Ollie received his much-needed medical examination, the doctors found out that the dog’s femur is also broken.
While Ollie waited for his new owner who will love him and not leave him behind, Ollie continuously enjoys his life in the shelter, all thanks to the shelter staff who gives him proper care and attention. When Bored Panda interviewed Terri, she shared how lovable Ollie was, and how the dog loved kissing everyone.
Terri shared that a family Ollie could love and who will love him is all the dog wants. Terrie added that despite being thrown out and abandoned like some trash, Ollie is still a sweet happy dog who likes to wag his tail.
For the meantime, a woman named Jill Martens, who saw Terri’s Facebook post about Ollie fosters the abandoned dog.
