Hurricane Dorian caused a lot of destruction in the Bahamas, and it’s only by a miracle that a particular dog survived the aftermath. The dog now named Miracle was rescued by a Florida based animal rescue group following reports a dog was in dire need of emergency rescue.
Rescuers found Miracle stuck beneath an air conditioner in Marsh Harbour on the Abaco Islands. Miracle is believed to have been trapped for over three weeks.
It is unbelievable how this dog managed to escape the deadly hurricane. He was lucky that we found him, Big Dog Ranch Rescue Founder and President Lauree Simmons said. WPTV said a fellow dog that was with Miracle died.
Big Dog Ranch Rescue employed the use of drone technology to find Miracle, Palm Beach Post reported. A small heat spot attracted them, and they walked over debris to reach the place where Miracle was trapped.
“We hope to locate the owners, and if that doesn’t happen, we will look for a loving home,” Simmons said. Simmons reminded rescuers to be careful as they search through debris because some of the animals covered by debris may not like the sound of equipment being used to clear debris.
In a press release, the rescue group said it had employed drone technology to help individual teams on the ground find more animals, which could still be stuck under debris in the area.
Big Dog Ranch Rescue had rescued over 135 dogs since September when Hurricane Dorian struck the Bahamas. Some of these dogs have been given to their owners.
Hurricane Dorian made landfall in the Bahamas as a category five storm in September. The hurricane killed about 150 people, and many more are unknown of their whereabouts.
