This is a sad story, and you won’t make it through with dry eyes. Dog and humans have a connection if you have ever wondered. The story you are about to read will leave you with no doubt, and you will realize how we bond with our dogs.
A dog is mourning the loss of his best friend in Ordu, Turkey. Zozo, the dog, visits his dad’s grave often so he can be close to his beloved friend.
Zoz was abandoned when he was one-week-old. He was blessed to be adopted by a man named Zafer Öztürk. Zafer introduced Zozo to his family home where they both bonded together. The relationship they build is on loyalty and love.
Zafer suffered from an illness in 2014 and passed away. The loss was devastating for Zozo. When the family visited the grave for the first time, they realized how much Zozo was mourning.
As they approached the tomb, the dog laid on his daddy’s grave, in deep sorrow. Zozo wanted to be as close as possible to him. Every time the family visited the cemetery, they always brought Zozo. The dog repeated his traditional practice by lying next to the grave.
The family was in awe
“We have seen many dogs at the cemetery but have never seen this kind of behavior. Zozo is a unique dog,” said Zafer’s grandson. The dog was found sneaking out of the house only to find him resting on the dad’s grave.
It is surely not unusual for a dog to grieve the loss of their owner since they are the person they bonded with most of their life. They may not understand the full extent of human loss, but dogs miss the emotional feelings, which is no longer part of their daily routines.
The video on page 2 is heartbreaking to see this dog mourn the loss. We genuinely embrace these moments to see Zafer and Zozo have their time together. Have a tissue ready when you watch this video.
