An eleven-year-old Doberman called Turbo is lucky to be alive, thanks to a group of dolphins who came to his rescue after he slipped and fell from a wall that separated his home and the Marco Island in Florida.
The owner of the dog was away when the incident happened. She started looking for the dog after failing to find him at home.
The dog was down in the canal and was unable to climb the wall separating the water from the ground as it was too high.
The dog had been stuck in the water for close to fifteen hours and felt tired. Luckily, a group of dolphins came to help him.
After the dolphins saw the dog, they realized he was about to drown. They moved close to him and started making so much noise. Neighbors heard the animals making noise and knew all was not well.
The dolphins were so noisy that people around that area decided to find out what was going on. This is when they saw the dog pinned under the wall in the water.
Firefighters arrived at the scene and rescued the dog. The dog looked distressed and shaky, but he was fine.
Turbo suffered minor cuts on the leg. He was taken to his owner, who was glad he had been found alive.
Research has shown that dolphins are very intelligent. The size of a dolphin’s brain in relation to its body size is slightly below that of humans.
Dolphins are known to imitate what people do, adhere to recipes, and can deal with intricate problems. They also show a positive response to images on television.
